Arsenal right back Mathieu Debuchy has pointed out at his frustration on being denied a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Debuchy joined Bordeaux on loan from Arsenal even though he was approached by Manchester United.
The Frenchman was disappointed because it would have been a move that suited him but he says that Arsene Wenger denied such a move because it would mean they’d be helping a rival team.
Here’s what Debuchy said:
- “If I had the chance to go to Manchester United it would have been magnificent.
- At the end of the transfer window they (Manchester United) came in, they contacted my agents. I was disappointed, obviously.
- Unfortunately it wasn’t the case. I discussed it with the coach too, who said that obviously he couldn’t help out a rival.”
